KARACHI: Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Zakaullah Sunday announced the donation of one day’s ration of Pakistan Navy (PN) personnel to the flood victims.

He announced this during his visit to various rescue sites and relief camps established by Pakistan Navy in the flood affected areas.

The Chief of Naval Staff, accompanied by Commander Coast Rear Admiral Syed Bashir Ahmad, visited Shaheed Benazirabad district to review the PN relief efforts being made under Operation “MADAD,” said a press release issued by COMKAR, Pakistan Navy.

The announcement was said to come at a time when Pakistan Navy has already embarked upon major flood relief efforts under Operation “MADAD”.

Fifty-four tons of relief goods have already been distributed by PN among the flood affected people and this additional donation is said to be distributed amongst the flood affectees of far flung areas where the help has not reached so far.

During his visit, the Naval Chief was given a detailed briefing by Commander Marines on PN’s rescue and relief efforts.

He was apprised that top priority was being accorded to the relief efforts and all available resources were being utilised to provide necessary assistance to the flood affected.

The Chief of Naval Staff expressed his satisfaction over the relief activities. He directed the Commander Coast to closely monitor the flood situation and continue rescue and relief efforts till complete rehabilitation of the affected by judiciously utilising the deployed assets and resources with unswerving diligence.

He was also briefed on the current flood situation by the representatives of civil administration and Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA).

Later, the Naval Chief visited a PN relief and medical camp and witnessed the ongoing relief activities. He assured the flood victims that Pakistan Navy would provide all possible help to the flood affected in this hour of need and make all out efforts for their rehabilitation.—APP
