RECORDER REPORT

PESHAWAR: The management of Peshawar Dry Port has clarified that imported auto-parts were cleared under a formal legal process from the dry port and the chases numbers of 90% auto-parts were abolished before arrival and if someone comes along with chases numbers then it is deleted here.

Addressing a joint media briefing here at Peshawar Dry Port, Deputy Collector (DC) Customs, Dry Port, Adeem Khan and DC Anti-Smuggling Division, Mohammad Zakir rejected the impression that these chases numbers were not deleted here is totally baseless and wrong.

The Deputy Collectors said that imported auto-parts were cleared under a formal process and the dry port issues the documents of only auto-parts. He termed all news reports regarding not deleting of chases numbers of auto-parts at dry port as totally baseless.

He said that chases in 90% cases are removed even before their arrival at Peshawar Dry Port. But, in case some of them arrived then they delete them here. However, they said the law has not mention anywhere about the deletion of the chases numbers, but they are still deleted.

The customs officials said that each auto-part has its own price, while scrap has its rate and they could not be registered. He was of the view that their basic duty is the collection of duty and taxes from such auto-parts.

They said that during last three months 188 containers of auto-parts have been arrived at Peshawar Dry Port, which generated revenue of Rs.193 million. Later, auto-parts were also displayed before the media.
