ISLAMABAD: A day after issuing notices to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, his family members and others in response to various pleas including Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), seeking action against respondents in connection with the Panama leaks, Supreme Court on Friday fixed the hearing for November 01.

On October 20, a three-member bench led by Chief Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali resumed the hearing of PTI, Jamaat-e-Islami (JI), Awami Muslim League (AML), a lawyer Tariq Asad and an anchor person Asad Kharal in the matter.

After hearing the contentions of AML’s chief Sheikh Rasheed and the counsel for the petitioners on October 20, the bench issued notices to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and others in the case besides issuing directives to its fixation branch to re-list the cases within two weeks.

A court associate of the fixture branch on Friday, however, informed Attorney General for Pakistan Ashtar Ausaf and all parties to the case through a notice for the hearing on November 01, asking all of them to check the cause list of the apex court before coming to the court.

Although the bench’s name has not been mentioned in the served notice, it is presumed that the same three-judge bench who took up the pleas on October 20 comprising Chief Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali, Justice Ijazul Ahsan and Justice Khilji Arif Hussain – will resume the hearing of case on Nov 01.
