LAHORE: The Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) Chairman Lt Gen Muzammil Hussain (R) on Wednesday visited the under-construction Tarbela 4th Extension Hydropower Project to review progress.

During the visit, he held a detailed round of the various sites of the project.

Speaking on the occasion, he expressed satisfaction over the concerted efforts of the incumbent management of WAPDA, construction work on the project, saying that it has picked up the pace.

He directed the project management to maximize their efforts for maintaining the pace of work, so that the project is completed as per the rationalized timelines.

It is pertinent to mention that the 1410 MW-Tarbela 4th Extension Hydropower Project is a component of least-cost energy generation plan, which is being implemented by WAPDA on priority. Under Tarbela 4th Extension Project, three generating units–each of them having capacity of 470 MW–are being installed at Tunnel No. 4 of Tarbela Dam. With completion of the project, generation capacity of Tarbela Hydel Power Station will increase to 4888 MW from the existing 3478 MW.
