PESHAWAR: The Annual and Innovation Summit, 2016 begin here at UET Peshawar on Wednesday.

Delegates from all over the country including academicians and industrialists and government participated in the opening ceremony.

Addressing the occasion, Prof Dr Iftikhar Hussain, Vice Chancellor UET Peshawar said, such events give a chance to bridge the gap between academic and industry.

"There is no better place to talk about the innovation than UET Peshawar," he said.

Prof Dr Iftikhar Hussain also welcomed the suggestion by Mohsin Ali Syed, CEO Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Economic Zones Development and Management Company (KPEZDMC) to give hands-on training to the students from first semester instead of going to factories in their final year of graduation. This trend will give them a full understanding of problems at the time of their graduation.

Dr Iftikhar assured UET Peshawar's support in this regard. "I urge industry and academia to work together with perseverance for at least five years to see the results coming to fruition," adding, " we need small and medium-sized businesses, civil society, knowledge institutions and government to join us in this race to the top."

Mohsin Ali Syed, Chief Executive Officer, KPEZDMC said, future is created by engineers. He said, engineers and scientists, well-versed in technical and practical knowledge will be picked up by more than 500 factories that the Govt. of KP is planning to set up in next two to three years in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa adding, "more than 17 industrial zones will be established in near future which will create more than 200000 jobs in the province.
