KARACHI: Pakistan seafood export surged by 17.40 percent to $155.884 million in July-Nov 2016 with an increased fisheries landing at the harbor, fishermen said here on Thursday.

Seafood export growth now stands at $23.108 million in July-Nov 2016 from $132.776 million in July-Nov 2015, Pakistan Bureau of Statistics shows.

In term of volume, seafood export mounted by 21.12 percent or 10499 metric tons to 60, 216 metric tons in July-Nov 2016 from 49,717 metric tons in July-Nov 2015.

In Nov 2016, seafood export grew by 29 percent or $9.238 million to $41.205 million from $31.967 million in Nov 2015.

Seafood export volume scaled up to 15,999 metric tons in Nov 2016 from 12,144 metric tons in Nov 2015, up by 32 percent or 3855 metric tons.

Fishermen said, “A better shrimp and a variety of fish landing have widely contributed to the country’s seafood export growth both in volume and value on the world markets.
