LAHORE: Board of Directors of the Punjab Industrial Estates Development and Management Company (PIEDMC) has accorded its approval to commence the sale of plots at the state-of-art Quaid-e-Azam Apparel Park that was set up on an area of 1,536 acres.

The Board also gave its approval for construction of commercial plaza at the Sundar Industrial Estate and other related matters.

Punjab Minister for Commerce and Industry Sheikh Alaudin while addressing a press conference at the PIEDMC Head Office here on Thursday said the provincial government was setting up industrial estate in each district of the province to create job opportunities. He said the government attached priority to eradicate unemployment and revival of sick industry in the province. PIEDMC chairman Rizwan Khalid Butt was also present on the occasion.

Speaking to the Board of Director’s meeting, the minister said the Punjab government had decided to evolve an industrial land policy to procure public and private land for the industrial purpose, which would help establish industrial estates and industrial zones besides promoting industrial units in the province, he added.

Talking about the provincial economic development, he said Punjab’s economic growth was far ahead than that of other provinces that stayed between six and seven percent. He said designing and planning for setting up of new industrial estate in Bahawalpur had been started following which the number of industrial estates under the PIEDMC would reach to 10 in the province.
