RECORDER REPORT

LAHORE: The Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) has sought National Accountability Bureau’s help in recovery of utility bills from 1700 defaulters, said sources.

The list is consisted of defaulters having not paid electricity bills over and above Rs 100,000.

The LESCO authorities have pointed out that the defaulters have not paid utility bills worth millions of rupees despite disconnections. Majority belongs to the public sector departments, they added.

It may be noted that the State Minister for Water and Power, Abid Sher Ali had announced of handing over the cases of chronic defaulters to the NAB.

LESCO, besides other DISCOs, has already kick started a recovery campaign besides bringing the line losses down. The consumers are up in their arms against the recovery campaign saying that the company was ignoring prescribed procedure in this regard.
