KARACHI: The Rangers Sindh claimed to have arrested five suspected terrorists of Al-Qaeda Subcontinent chapter, here on Wednesday.

Addressing a press conference at the Rangers’ headquarters, Colonel Qaiser Khan said the raid was conducted in Moach Goth area of Kaemari Town after obtaining information that some Al-Qaeda Subcontinent suspects had entered in Karachi.

He said the held terrorists had been ascertained as Bilal Ahmed who was allegedly a close accomplice of Safoora Goth massacre mastermind Tahir Minhas. Similarly, Tahir Zaman a suspected Al Qaeda militant allegedly responsible for grenade attack on police mobile near Hilal Chowrangi.

Another accused Muhammad Nawaz was involved in passing information on Army, Police and intelligence officials to Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).

Muhammad Mashhadi of Al Qaeda, who had been arrested in 2009 for transporting weapons from Karachi to Sukkur, allegedly returned to militancy after he got release three years back.

Muhammad Farhan Siddiqui was allegedly tasked by Al Qaeda Pakistan Chief to recruit new members. The held terrorists had been trained in Syria and Afghanistan and were presently operating Indian and Afghan’s agency network here.

He also said to have recovered 3-D pictures along with laptop, some eight kilogram explosive material, detonators, a suicide jacket, four hand grenades, four sub-machine guns (SMG), and two pistols from the possessions of held terrorists during the course of raid.
