RECORDER REPORT

KARACHI: Karachi mayor Waseem Akhtar said on Sunday that reconstruction and renovation work of the iconic Park, Bagh-e-Ibn-e-Qasim continued on fast track. He vowed to reopen the recreational park for the citizens soon.

“We shall not countenance anyone to occupy even an inch of this public property,” he said during his surprise visit to the Park, adding that this is the city’s biggest Park and has great significance due to its location at the beach.

Waseem Akhtar said that unfortunately, due to negligence of relevant authorities Bagh-e-Ibn-e-Qasim was damaged severely like other parks. He said that for the last couple of years, the park remained closed for the citizens.

“Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) is spending from its own resources to renovate the park that will be opened for the general visitors as soon as the work is completed,” he said, adding that 130 acre recreational facility would offer fun and joy to the public, once again.

Karachi mayor said that the piece of land was gifted by Jahangir Kothari to the people of Karachi and it will not be used for any commercial activity at any cost.
