FAISALABAD: Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb says legislation is underway for the safety, security and welfare of the journalists.

Addressing a news conference in Faisalabad on Sunday, she said that the legislation will also protect the rights of all kind of media workers including reporters, cameramen, DSNG operators and technical staff.

She said that access to information bill will also be introduced during the current session of the National Assembly. She said that it will help to reduce communication gap.

Marriyum Aurangzeb said that government is also starting training programmes for the working journalists to enhance their professional skills. She said that foreign trainings will also be arranged for the journalists.

The Minister of State said that it is the responsibility of the media to present the true image of the country. She said that the government has taken long term steps for improving the security of the country. She said that due to the government’s intervention, peace has been restored in the country.—NNI
