ISLAMABAD: The government has earmarked a sum of Rs 15.666 billion for Interior Division for fiscal year 2017-18 under Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP), compared to Rs 11.56 billion in fiscal year 2016-17.

The budget document shows an increase of 26.20 percent in funds for various attached departments of the Interior Ministry, including Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), Islamabad police, Immigration and Passport (I&P), Frontier Constabulary (FC), Pakistan Coast Guards and Pakistan Rangers, and Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration, compared to last fiscal year.

According to budget documents released Friday, the Interior Division would execute 23 new and 38 ongoing projects during next financial year 2017-18.

Out of Rs 15.666 billion, Rs 1,800 million has been allocated for Provision for China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) related security projects, while Rs 1000 million would be earmarked for provision of security infrastructure in Malakand, Swat and other conflict areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The government has allocated Rs 800 million for construction of Model Prison in sector H-16 Islamabad, Rs 750 million will be spent on construction of accommodation for Abdullah Shah Ghazi Rangers at Karachi and allocated Rs 650 million for capacity enhancement of Frontier Corps (FC) Balochistan by raising eight additional wings.

According to the budget document, Rs 500 million will be spent on raising Balochistan constabulary and Rs 440 million has been earmarked for Islamabad general hospital Tarlai.

In the budget, 207-18, Rs 700 million has been allocated for construction of accommodation for 4X wings at Chamanjana, Sama Bazaar Orakzai Agency and Sheedano, Sadda at Kurram Agency FC KP.

As per the budget breakdown Rs 550 million has been earmarked for capacity enhancement of CAF-management of western border by raising eight additional wings for Frontier Crops Balochistan (North) besides setting aside Rs 500 million capacity enhancement of management of western boarder by raising of headquarter of Frontier Corps Balochistan (South).

The government has allocated Rs 500 million for construction of accommodation for headquarters for FC KKP (South) D I Khan. As much as Rs 450 million will be spent on the construction of accommodation for 3X wing at Hashim, Mena Bajaur Agency and Suran Mohmand Agency FC, KP.
