LAHORE: In order to support economic and social empowerment of women, Punjab Commission on the Status of Women (PCSW) launched the Transitional Home for women victims of violence, at Dar-ul-Falah, Social Welfare Complex, Township, Lahore, on Friday.

According to the PCSW spokesperson, this pilot project is the result of a partnership between PCSW and Social Welfare and Baitul Maal Department, Government of Punjab.

Chairperson PCSW, Fauzia Viqar said that economic growth and development cannot be attained without active participation of women, who constitute approximately 50 percent of the population of Punjab.

She elaborated that the core aim of the Transitional Home for women victims of violence is to enable survivors of violence to be self-sufficient and facilitate their reintegration into society, through provision of skill development trainings.
