Lahore: The blistering heat has engulfed country as mercury crossed 51 degree Celsius at Jacobabad, Sibi; Dadu, Larkana, Turbat 50°C; Noor Pur, Thal, Bhakkar, Sukkur, Moen-jo-daro, Sakrand 49 C; R Y Khan 48°C; Lahore, Faisalabad, Multan, D G Khan, D I Khan, Bahawalpur and Peshawar 46-45°C on Friday The extreme heat was exacerbated by chronic power cuts that barred people

from using air-conditioners. The electricity had cut out for eight hours each day as part of a severe load-shedding that triggered protests in some parts of Pakistan.

The Met Office said that Weather remained very hot and dry in most parts of the country. However, rain-thunderstorm occurred at isolated places in Malakand division & Gilgit-Baltistan.

The Met Office forecasts mainly hot and dry weather in most plain areas of the country today. However, rain-thunderstorm is expected at a few places in Hazara division, Kashmir and its adjoining hilly areas.
