LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif has accorded approval to new plan of teachers training programme under which educational training at primary, elementary, and higher education levels will be provided.

While addressing the meeting, Shehbaz said that teachers training is very much pivotal in improving the quality of education as talented and trained teachers can give better education to the students.

He said that Punjab government is set to launch school leadership development programme under which school heads will be given 28-day training. He said that latest technology will also be fully utilized in training of the teachers and the training institutions will be developed as centers of excellence.

He said that Punjab government has promoted merit based policies in education and other sectors and 80,000 talented teachers have been recruited purely on merit.

He hoped that international standard training will help to improve the capacity building of the teachers; adding that a plan has been devised to send 5000 teachers abroad to train them as master trainers.

He further said that Punjab government has taken unique steps for the promotion of education in the province.

Provincial Minister for Schools Education Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan, Advisor Dr Umer Saif, Chairman PEF Engineer Qamar ul Islam Raja, Chief Secretary, Secretary Schools Dr Allah Bakhsh Malik and educational experts attended the meeting.
