PESHAWAR: Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Iqbal Zafar Jhagra while giving go ahead signal for implementation on 13 different projects, costing Rs2586.403 million, in Fata has directed the concerned authorities to ensure completion of the implementation process within the stipulated period.

There should be no compromise, as far as quality of work and transparent utilization of resources are concerned, he added. He was presiding over the 4th quarterly meeting of the Fata Development Committee at Governor’s House, Peshawar on Friday.

The meeting was attended by additional chief secretary Fata Fida Muhammad Wazir, representatives of the ministry of SAFRON, Federal Economic, Development and Research Division, secretaries of Finance, Production, Social Sector Development and Administration departments of the FATA Secretariat.

The chief economist of the Fata secretariat while highlighting the agenda items briefed the Governor about the salient features of the projects which mainly related to agriculture development, road construction, education especially provision of scholarships to students studying in different quality educational institutions across the country as well as promotion of literacy rate all over Fata.

The Integrated Agriculture Development Programme in Fata was one of the major projects approved on this occasion which is predicted to increase cultivable area; provide sustainable income source to farming community; promote high value vegetables; improve livelihood in respective areas; enhance socio-economic conditions of the farmers and to provide opportunities to young graduates from Fata to develop their skill in its various disciplines.

Similarly, seven different schemes approved on this occasion under Fata Infrastructure Development package encompassed construction and blacktopping of different roads in FR Tank, South Waziristan Agency, North Waziristan Agency and FR D.I. Khan.
