KARACHI: The Met Office has forecast rain-thunderstorm with gusty winds across the country for Sunday.

Parts of Lower Sindh and Balochistan are likely to receive rain-thunderstorm with isolated heavy falls and with gusty winds. It said that rain is likely to fall in Mirpurkhas, Hyderabad, Karachi, Zhob, Kalat, Sibbi, Naseerabad and Makran divisions.

While heavy rains with gusty winds is expected at isolated places of Sukkur, Larkana, Shaheed Benazirabad, D G Khan, Bahawalpur, Malakand, Hazara, Peshawar, Lahore, Gujranwala and Rawalpindi Divisions, besides Islamabad, Fata, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir. However, hot and humid weather is likely elsewhere in the country.

“Seasonal low lies over north Balochistan. Monsoon currents are penetrating southern parts of the country and likely to continue during next 02 to 03 days. A shallow westerly wave is present along western and upper parts of the country and likely to affect during next few days”, the Met said.

It said that rain-thunderstorm fell at scattered places in Lower Sindh, while at isolated places in Lahore, Sargodha, Rawalpindi, Peshawar, Kohat, Bannu and Kalat divisions and Kashmir during the last 24 hours.

Maximum rainfall in Punjab was recorded in Mianwali 14mm, Chakwal 9mm, Lahore city 5mm, Murree and Joharabad 1mm. In Sindh: Dhaheli 20mm, Diplo and Hyderabad 17mm, each, Mithi 15mm, Nagarparker and Kaloi 14mm, Thatta 11mm, Karachi (Gulshan-e-Hadid 8mm, Airport, Faisal 2mm, North Nazimabad, Landhi, North Karachi, Masroor 1, each) Islamkot and Chhor 3mm, each, Badin 1mm. Khyber Pukhtunkhwa: Peshawar (Airport 23mm, City 20mm), Cherat 12mm, Kohat and Parachinar 8mm, Risalpur 7mm, Kakul and Bannu 1mm. Kashmir: Kotli 8mm. Balochistan: Khuzdar 3 mm. Highest temperature was recorded in Sibbi as 46 degrees celsius, Nokkundi 44, Dadu, Lasbella, Shaheed Benazirabad and Sukkur 43, each.
