KARACHI: Mayor Karachi Wasim Akhtar said rain emergency has been declared in view of forecast of heavy rains in Karachi and cleaning of drains being done speedily to clear chocking points. He stated this on a visit to different areas of Malir on Saturday along with chairman DMC korangi Nayyar Raza, Vice Chairman Ahmer Ali, MNA Sajid Ahmed and Head of KMC Municipal Services and Engineering department.

Mayor Karachi during his visit went to khokhrapar, kala Board and National Highway to check and review the situation.

He on this occasion directed Municipal Services department to provide more machinery to DMC Korangi administration so that drains located here could be cleaned properly. He said such measures should be taken by municipal staff that could save the people from any inconvenience during monsoon season.

Criticizing Sindh government for its indifferent attitude to city of Karachi he said citizens of Karachi experiencing worst city condition but the government paid no heed to their agony although this city feeds whole country with it’s major share in the national income.

During this visit he inspected drain cleaning at Kala Board and under construction road in Khokhrapar and directed staff to complete drain cleaning work speedily.—NNI
