NAVEED BUTT

ISLAMABAD: Leader of Opposition in the National Assembly, Syed Khursheed Ahmed Shah has said that accountability should not be confined to politicians and rulers only; rather, bureaucrats and former generals should also be held accountable.

Talking to the reporters while going towards the Supreme Court to attend the Panama Papers case hearing, the opposition leader said more the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) drags the Panama Papers case, more it would trap into it.

He said that new things came out when Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif appeared before the Joint Investigation Team (JIT), adding if the volume-10 of its report is made public then Nawaz will have to face more embarrassment.

Shah advised the Prime Minister not to go in depth further in the case, predicting that the case will not continue for more than a week.

He said that the incumbent government itself is the biggest threat to the Parliament and democracy at the moment, adding that the role of the apex court should not be questioned.

To a question, Shah said that Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) did not make any objection when its own prime minister had been disqualified, adding that it will accept the Supreme Court’s decision this time as well.
