LAHORE: Chief Secretary Punjab Zahid Saeed has directed that a mechanism for dengue monitoring, surveillance and reporting should be improved to cope with the disease.

He was presiding over a meeting through video link regarding dengue control at Civil Secretariat here on Saturday. Addressing the meeting, the Chief Secretary said that keeping in view the situation in Peshawar, anti-dengue activities must be expedited throughout Punjab. He mentioned that concerted efforts are needed to eradicate dengue once and for all. He said surveillance teams should carry out ‘qualitative work’ as quality is more important than quantity.

Those among present in the meeting included Minister for Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education Khawaja Salman Rafiq, administrative secretaries of different departments including finance, livestock, health, environment, and deputy commissioner of Lahore, whereas deputy commissioners of Faisalabad, Rawalpindi, Multan, Gujranwala and Sheikhupura joined the meeting through video link.
