FAISALABAD: National Highways & Motorways Police (NH&MP) has introduced a corruption-free new culture of strict discipline and enforcement of law and business community should not only support it but also make it a total success in order to transform the whole public sector organizations in Pakistan like a credible institution of NH&MP. This was disclosed by Kamran Adil SSP NH&MP.

He was addressing a road safety seminar in Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FCCI) here on Saturday.

He termed NH&MP as a brand for the public sector and hoped that it will have tickling affect on all other departments and organizations. He said that construction of new highways, motorways and roads have necessitated a reliable traffic management system in Pakistan and we have to prepare ourselves to face these emerging challenges as roads play vital role in the socio economic development of any country.

Commenting on the culture introduced in motorways police, he said that no officer could dare to get undue favor from his subordinates. “Similarly, the juniors also have gut to reject any “safarash”, he said and added that we are holding series of awareness seminars to regularly sensitize the people to follow traffic rules.

He said that the ultimate objective of these seminars is to realize people that traffic rules are necessary not only to protect their lives but also imperative for the happiness of their family. He requested President FCCI to provide space so that the education department of NH&MP could regularly hold awareness sessions. He said that students and drives of various industrial and commercial units could be invited to benefit from these seminars.

Kamran Adil told that e-ticketing system has been introduced in his six beats. Now the entire system is computerized. However he hoped that business community will support this new system to make it acceptable for the regular travelers.

Earlier, in his address of welcome President FCCI Mohammad Saeed Sheikh underlined the importance of Faisalabad in national economy and said that speedy growth of this city had increased number of vehicles and hence we have to widen the existing roads in addition to regulating traffic on it.

He said that during last two years 820 accidents were reported for the well maintained, well regulated and fenced motorways and highways. “It is a matter of concern and NH&MP should take necessary remedial steps to avoid these accidents in future.

In the end Vice President Ahmad Hasan offered vote of thanks while President FCCI and SSP Kamran Adil exchanged mementos of the respective organizations.
