LAHORE: The Founder Group of the Rice Exporters Association of Pakistan (REAP) has nominated Ch Samee Ullah Naeem as its consensus candidate for chairmanship in coming elections of the Association for the term 2017-18.

Founder Group’s Chairman Shahzad Ali Malik announced his name in presence of a large number of sitting and former office-bearers and members of the Association here on Monday. Sitting President Moulvi Mahmood Baqi, Senior Vice Chairman Shahjahan Malik, Pir Nazim Hussain Shah, LCCI Executive Committee member Ali Hussam were the prominent among those who were present on this occasion.

Speaking on this occasion, Founder Group’s Chairman Shahzad Ali Malik hoped that Chaudhry Samee Ullah would leave no stone unturned for the betterment of rice trade and those attached with this industry. He also praised the sitting Chairman Moulvi Mahmood, whose term is expiring this month, for rendering invaluable services for rice trade. He hoped that Samee would take the reins right from where Moulvi Mahmood would leave and complete the tasks being carried out by the present leadership.

Sitting REAP Chairman Moulvi Mahmood claimed consensus nomination of Samee Ullah shows that there was no rift in the Association and all were united to work for the betterment of rice trade, especially ‘Basmati’ sector.

Chaudhry Samee Ullah Naeem in his brief address said he was a member of the Founder Group in the past and will continue as its member. He vowed to work for the uplifting of Basmati sector which was experiencing a negative growth for the last five years. He asked all the REAP members to join hands for solving the issues being faced by the rice traders.
