LAHORE: One hundred and twenty six people have been killed, 158 injured and 401 houses partially or totally damaged in the current monsoon 2017 from 26th June till 21st August across the country.

The National Disaster Management Authority has released preliminary data of damages/losses of monsoon 2017, according to which 33 male, female and children were killed and 83 injured in the rain/thunderstorm related accidents in Punjab during first two months of the rainy season.

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 10 male, 2 female and ten children were killed and 33 injured while 232 houses were partially or totally destroyed.

In Balochistan, 13 men, 4 women and 9 children were killed and 36 houses were damaged. In AJ&K, four people were killed and 29 houses destroyed, in FATA 18 persons including 2 men, seven women and 9 children were killed and 9 injured. In Gilgit-Baltistan, 8 persons were killed and 55 houses destroyed.

In Sindh, 6 persons–3 male and 3 children were killed and 17 injured in the rains/floods during this period. Maximum relief as provided to rain/flashflood affected people of KPK and Balochistan,

The Flood Warning Centre Lahore said that all rivers are flowing below low flood level and all roads are clear for traffic across the country.

Weather Forecast for today:

Rain-thunderstorm with gusty winds is expected at scattered places in Karachi, Mirpurkhas, Hyderabad, Sh Benazirbad divisions while at isolated places in Malakand, Hazara, Peshawar, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sukkar, Makran divisions, Islamabad, FATA, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan. Hot and humid weather is expected elsewhere in the country Weather Outlook for next 48 hrs: Mainly hot and humid weather is expected in most part of the country. However, rain-thunderstorm with gusty winds is expected at isolated places in upper Punjab (Rawalpindi, Lahore, Gujranwala, Sargodha divisions), Malakand, Hazara, Peshawar, Kohat divisions, Islamabad, FATA, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.
