ISLAMABAD: Power Division- Ministry of Energy has claimed that there was no load shedding across Pakistan during Eid holidays (September 1 to 4) due to more than required power generation.

A spokesperson of Power Division told Business Recorder that demand remained below generation.

“The demand during Eid holidays oscillated between 14500 MW approximately to 16000 MW while availability remained above 19000 MW,” he added.

Industry specific demand hovering around 3500-4000 MW was also available to general public during Eid holidays due to closure of industry. However, there was partial load shedding in the areas where recovery is less than 50 percent there as per the policy agreed with the International Financial Institutions (IFIs).

According to media reports, protests were witnessed in some parts of KPK against prolonged load shedding during the Eid holidays. —MUSHTAQ GHUMMAN
