HYDERABAD: As many as 500 saplings were planted at the Institute of Biochemistry, University of Sindh Jamshoro as the plantation drive had been launched on the campus here on Friday.

Organized by the Incharge Plantation & Beautification Section Mehar Ali Kazi, the vice chancellor inaugurated the campaign by planting a sapling outside the institute. A total number of 500 saplings including 110 plants donated by the students of the institute whereas another 390 plants provided by the Plantation & Beautification Section of the university, were planted by the senior faculty and students.

While addressing the inaugural ceremony, VC Dr Fateh Muhammad Burfat said that after he had joined as the varsity Vice Chancellor he had imposed complete ban on chopping down the trees, adding that the university administration, faculty and students were preparing a joint plan to plant 40,000 saplings every year to transform the campus into an eye-catching lush green landscape.
