RECORDER REPORT

LAHORE: Justice Syed Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi of Lahore High Court will proceed with the petition of the JuD Chief Hafiz Saeed and other leaders against their detention on September 19.

Their counsel would reply to the report submitted by Home Department which said activities of Jamatud Dawa (Jud) chief Hafiz Muhammad Saeed, will pose great threat to the public safety if he would be released.

The petitioner through A.K Dogar assailed detention orders issued on July 28, 2017 under section 1 of section 3 of Maintenance of Public order, 1960 for a period of next 60 days.

The lawyer contended that the government in the impugned detention orders had only shown apprehension against the petitioners. However, he said, under the law no presumption and assumption could give rise to any apprehension unless it was supported by some piece of evidence.
