KARACHI: The country’s import of textile machinery grew by 16.12 percent to $ 88.333 million in July-Aug 2018, official figure say.

Increase in the textile machinery import now stands at $ 12.264 million in July-Aug 2018 from $ 76.069 million in July-Aug 2017, Pakistan Bureau of Statistics shows.

In Aug 2017, import of textile machinery went up by 51 percent or $ 15.868 million to $ 47.242 million from $ 31.374 million in Aug 2016.

Import of construction and mining machinery scaled up by four percent or $ 2.707 million to $ 73.179 million in July-Aug 2018 from $ 70.472 million in July-Aug 2017.

Declining by 22.18 percent or $ 9.728 million, import of construction and mining machinery remained $34.128 million in Aug 2017 as compared to its import of $ 43.856 million in Aug 2016.

Electrical machinery import soared to $ 302.497 million, up by 7.32 percent or $ 20.645 million, in July-Aug 2018 from $ 281.852 million in July-Aug 2017.

The country’s import of electrical machinery fell by 14 percent or $ 21.771 million to $ 135.279 million in Aug 2017 from $ 157.050 million in Aug 2016.
