KARACHI: Chairman of Pakistan Chemical and Dyes Merchant Association (PCDMA), M. Arif Lakhani has expressed deep concerns over the arrest of reputed businessman by National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Karachi.

He said that on the one hand the business community of Karachi is playing a critical role in economic prosperity of the country on the other hand Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) harassing the business community and now NAB also doing the same.

He said if NAB intends to make arrests it must arrest tax evaders. He said that the NAB has arrested a reputed businessman who achieved award of best tax payer in 2016.

He said that the businessman has been arrested on charge of an alleged Sales Tax Refund of a meager amount of Rs. 150,000 without serving any notice prior to the arrest which must be strongly deplored.

He urged the Chairman NAB that instead of questioning the dignity and self-respect of businessmen, bring the matter to the notice of the business community so that the action should be initiated in consolation so that the issue could be resolved in an amicable manner without creating an embarrassing situation for the accused.—PR
