ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Interior Monday notified extension in Rangers’ stay for another 90 days in the federal capital with effect from November 3.

According to a notification issued by the Ministry of Interior, following the request of chief commissioner Islamabad under Section-4 (2) of Anti-terrorism Act 1997, the federal government in exercise of powers under clause (i) of sub-section (3) of section-4 of Anti-Terrorism Act, 1947 is pleased to authorize the deployment of Rangers troops.

Currently, there are 2,000 troops of Pakistan Rangers and 50 contingents of Gilgit-Baltistan Scouts across the federal capital. While 350 troops of Pakistan Army are also deployed in the federal capital to act in aid of civil power.
