ISLAMABAD: The National Assembly Standing Committee on Rules of Procedure and Privileges has unanimously decided to invite minister and secretary for information to attend the committee’s meeting to discuss a question of privilege related to the ministry.

The meeting of the committee was held here at the Parliament House with MNA Rana Muhammad Qasim Noon in the chair on Wednesday.

The committee pended the questions of privileges raised by MNAs Rana Muhammad Afzal Khan, Ghulam Sarwar Khan, Bilal Ahmed Virk, Shazia Marri, Maulana Fazal-ur-Rehman, Dr Fahmida Mirza, Mian Imtiaz Ahmed, Abdul Majeed Khan Khanan Khail and Rana Muhamamd Qasim Noon till its next meeting.

The committee disposed of the question of privilege raised by MNA Ayesha Gulalai regarding malicious and vilified campaign in social media against her. The committee pended the amendment moved by MNA Dr Azra Fazal Pechuho. The committee recommended that all members of the Standing Committee on Rules of Procedure and Privileges will visit all provincial assemblies to share mutual experiences.

It also recommended constituting a parliamentary committee of both Houses on Rules of Procedure and Privileges. The committee members will visit UK and EU countries to share mutual experiences and enhance the working capacity of the Committee of Rules of Procedure and Privileges at the international level.
