HYDERABAD: The College of Pharmacy LUMHS Jamshoro celebrated the “World Pharmacist Day”. In this regard, Awareness Walk followed by Seminar was arranged at the campus.

While addressing the participants, the Vice Chancellor LUMHS Prof Bikha Ram Devrajani expressed that community access to a pharmacist at a local or hospital pharmacy is commonplace today, but not many people are aware of the other important roles that pharmacists perform. This year’s theme “From research to healthcare: Your pharmacist is at your service” is a chance to highlight the varied contributions of pharmacists, from research to providing direct patient healthcare, as part of the day.

He added that Pharmacists involved in research and evaluation contribute significantly to health policy and services while focusing on topics such as advancements in pharmacy practice, drug discovery or clinical services.

The Chief Guest Vice Chancellor University of Sindh Prof Dr Fateh Muhammad Burfat said that the World Pharmacists Day is an opportunity to reflect on the vital work performed by pharmacists all over the world, it’s a time to celebrate that work and those services to patients, and the benefits achieved for our national health system.

He added that the pharmacists are trusted medicine experts and among the most accessible of all health professionals.

Prof Dr Abdullah Dayo, Dean Faculty of Pharmacy Sindh University; Shamim Raza, Director Pharmacy Services Aga Khan University Karachi; Tanveer Ahmad Siddiqui, Secretary Council of Pharmacy Sindh; Prof Dr Naheed Memon, Principal College of Pharmacy LUMHS and Shafi Qureshi, Director Pharmacy Sindh delivered speeches on the theme of The World Pharmacist Day.
