KARACHI: A Joint Investigation Team (JIT) recorded statements of slain Intezar Ahmed’s aggrieved father, Madiha Kiyani, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Muqaddas Haider and others in its first session that was convened on Friday regarding the Intezar murder case.

A probe team was formed to look into the case after Intezar was gunned down earlier this month in Karachi Defence Housing Authority (DHA) on January 13.

The team, in its first session on Friday did not establish alleged presence of SSP Haider on the incident site at the time of gunfire and his link with Madiha Kiyani. The JIT was informed of Madiha’s statements that were recorded with police earlier while statements of eight police personnel were also recorded.

The JIT led by Counter-terrorism Department (CTD) Intelligence Wing SSP Pervez Chandio convened a six-hour long meeting.

Father of slain Intezar Ahmed has accused Anti-Car Lifting Cell’s (ACLC) former chief SSP Muqaddas Haider of having been involved in his son’s targeted killing. He demanded to bring to light CCTV footage of the incident.

Intezar was driving a car late in the night with a girl named Madiha occupying the passenger seat. Probe revealed that at least 13 bullets were fired, out of which, three hit the vehicle. The boy fatally received one of the bullets on his head following which the car crashed into a road divider and ended up on the wrong way. Madiha reportedly walked away from the crash site unharmed.—NNI
