RECORDER REPORT

LAHORE: All Pakistan Bus Owners Association Chairman Azam Khan Niazi said that inter-city transport owners have increased fare by five percent after a hike in prices of petroleum products, saying that new fare would be implemented from second of February.

He said the transporters are in the process of finalizing a new fare chart. He added that transporters are increasing fare under pressure despite the fact that transport fares are already on the higher end. “Defective government policies have led us to increase fare,” he maintained.

Meanwhile, President All Pakistan Bus Owners Association Haji Khalid said that no decision to increase fare of non-AC buses has been taken so far. He said the provincial transport department has not contacted the association on the increase in fare so far. The spokesman for Lahore Transport Company said that fare of public transport is not being increased by the company.
