KARACHI: The Karachi Port handled 178,015 tonnes of cargo comprising 120,424 tonnes of import cargo and 57,591 tonnes of export cargo including 7,169 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Thursday.

The total import cargo of 120,424 tonnes comprised of 32,508 tonnes of containerised cargo; 11,495 tonnes of general cargo; 26,169 tonnes of total bulk cargo: 17,100 tonnes of coal; 9,069 tonnes of fertilizer and 50,252 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargo of 57,591 tonnes comprised of 44,815 tonnes of containerised cargo; 100 tonnes of general cargo; 6,152 tonnes of total bulk cargo: 1,472 tonnes of loose bulk cement; 4,680 tonnes of stone and 6,524 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

As many as 7,169 containers comprising of 2,439 containers import and 4,730 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 893 of 20’s and 653 of 40’s loaded while 06 of 20’s and 117 of 40’s empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 1,054 of 20’s and 541 of 40’s loaded containers while 650 of 20’s and 972 of 40’s empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were six ships namely Cosco New York, MSC Maritina, Sima Genesis, Kota Kamil, Wan Hai-503 and Bedford Castle carrying containers and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were four vessels viz. Ever Diamond, Kota Kamil, Mohar and Johanna Oldendorff carrying containers, cement and coal respectively currently at the berths.

There were two ships namely Hansa Offenburg and Johanna Oldendorff carrying containers and coal respectively sailed out to sea on Thursday, while two ships namely Ever Diamond and Fotini Lady carrying containers and mogas respectively are expected to sail on Friday.

There were two vessels viz. MOL Endowment and Nord Larkspur carrying containers and mogas respectively due to arrive on Thursday while seven vessels viz. Northern Priority, APL Japan, ETE-N, Mid Nature, Challenger, CMB Chikako and Cerulean carrying containers, oil tanker, coke, coal and general cargo respectively are due to arrive on Friday.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 142,819 tonnes comprising 91,302 tonnes of import cargo and 51,517 tonnes of export cargo including 3,988 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Thursday.

The total import cargo of 91,302 tonnes includes 37,761 tonnes of diesel oil; 3,420 tonnes of palm kernel; 8,150 tonnes of soyabean; 13,404 tonnes of coal; 200 tonnes of chemical and 28,367 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 51,517 tonnes includes 4,112 tonnes of rice and 47,405 tonnes of containerised cargo.

As many as 3,988 containers comprising of 1,493 containers import and 2,495 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.

There were three ships namely CV MSC Algeciras, MT Great-61 and MT Al-Soor-II carrying containers, coal and diesel oil respectively sailed out to sea on Thursday afternoon.

A total number of eight vessels viz. CV MSC Algeciras, CV CMA CGM Latour, MV Santy, MV Great-61, MV E-Tracer, MT Navios Coral, MT Umm Addalkh and MT Al-Soor-II were currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, rice, coal, soyabean, palm kernel and diesel oil respectively during the last 24 hours.

As many as nine ships namely MV BW Hazel, MV Beks Cenk, MV Gibraltar, MT Maria-III, MT Black Pearl, MT Wilpride, MT Lion-M, MT Glorious and MT Maersk Tocoma carrying canola seeds, cement, chemical, LPG, LNG, furnace oil and diesel oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were three vessels viz. MV Gibraltar, MT Black Pearl and MT Wilpride carrying chemical, LPG and LNG respectively expected to take berths at Engro Vopak Terminal, SSGC LPG Terminal and Engro Energy Terminal respectively on Thursday.

There were six ships namely CV Tampanos, CV Libra, CV Prosper, MT Maran Gas Spartra, MT Al-Galtara and MT Gaschem Antarctic carrying containers, LNG and LPG respectively due to arrive on Thursday.

There are four ships namely CV Uni Florida, CV Songa Calabria, MV Johanna Oldendroff and MT Brizo carrying containers, coal and furnace oil respectively due to arrive on Friday.
