KARACHI: The Karachi Port handled 124,953 tonnes of cargo comprising 86,910 tonnes of import cargo and 38,043 tonnes of export cargo including 4,313 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Friday.

The total import cargo of 86,910 tonnes comprised of 33,274 tonnes of containerised cargo; 6,743 tonnes of general cargo; 18,334 tonnes of total bulk cargo: 8,977 tonnes of coal; 9,357 tonnes of fertilizer and 28,559 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargo of 38,043 tonnes comprised of 22,011 tonnes of containerised cargo; 800 tonnes of general cargo; 7,232 tonnes of loose bulk cement and 8,000 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

As many as 4,313 containers comprising of 2,171 containers import and 2,142 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 1,029 of 20’s and 492 of 40’s loaded while 04 of 20’s and 77 of 40’s empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 788 of 20’s and 136 of 40’s loaded containers while 314 of 20’s and 384 of 40’s empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were five ships namely Hansa Offenburg, Johanna Oldendorff, Aviator, Foniti Lady and Porthos carrying containers, coal, stone, mogas and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were two vessels viz. Hansa Offenburg and MOL Endowment carrying containers respectively currently at the berths.

There were five ships namely Ever Diamond, MOL Endowment, YM Wealth, CSC Risingsun and Ellie Lady carrying containers, oil tanker and mogas respectively sailed out to sea on Friday.

There were eight vessels viz. Northern Priority, APL Japan, ETE-N, Paul Abrao, Mid Nature, Challenger, CMB Chikako and Han Zhi carrying containers, oil tanker, coke, coal and general cargo respectively due to arrive on Friday while five vessels viz. Libra, Oriental Lotus, Lemessos Lion, Young Harmony and Da Kang carrying containers, oil tankers, coal and general cargo respectively are due to arrive on Saturday.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 147,863 tonnes comprising 126,738 tonnes of import cargo and 21,125 tonnes of export cargo including 1,055 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Friday.

The total import cargo of 126,738 tonnes includes 61,000 tonnes of LNG; 1,215 tonnes of LPG; 3,129 tonnes of palm kernel; 8,028 tonnes of soyabean; 31,800 tonnes of coal; 17,595 tonnes of chemical and 3,971 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 21,125 tonnes includes 5,051 tonnes of rice and 16,074 tonnes of containerised cargo.

As many as 1,055 containers comprising of 209 containers import and 846 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.

There were two ships namely MV Gibraltar and MV E-Tracer carrying chemical and coal respectively sailed out to sea on Friday afternoon.

A total number of ten vessels viz. CV MSC Algeciras, CV CMA CGM Latour, MV Santy, MV E-Tracer, MV Navios Coral, MV Gibraltar, MT Black Pearl, MT Wilpride, MT Umm Addalkh and MT Al-Soor-II were currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, rice, coal, soyabean, chemical, LPG, LNG, palm kernel and diesel oil respectively during the last 24 hours.

As many as nine ships namely MV BW Hazel, MV Beks Cenk, MV Gibraltar, MT Maria-III, MT Black Pearl, MT Wilpride, MT Lion-M, MT Glorious and MT Maersk Tocoma carrying canola seeds, cement, chemical, LPG, LNG, furnace oil and diesel oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were six vessels viz. CV Uni Florida, CV Songa Calabria, CV Tempanos, MV ECO, MT Gaschem Antarctic and MT Ejlan carrying containers, coal, LNG and LPG respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Iron Ore & Coal Berth, Engro Energy Terminal and SSGC LPG Terminal respectively on Friday.

There were five ships namely CV MSC Esthi, MT Maran Gas Spartra, MT Al-Galtara, MT Ejlan and MT Brizo carrying containers, LNG, LPG and furnace oil respectively due to arrive on Friday.

There are three ships namely CV Libra, CV Prosper and CV Nicoline Maersk, carrying containers respectively due to arrive on Saturday.
