RECORDER REPORT

LAHORE: An Additional District and Sessions Court on Friday adjourned to February 16 the hearing of defamation suit of Shahbaz Sharif as Imran’s counsel failed to appear before the court.

CM Punjab Shahbaz Sharif had moved a defamation suit of Rs 10 billion against PTI Chairman Imran Khan for allegedly bribing Imran to withdraw panama case.

Chief Minister’s counsel Mustafa Ramday had argued that Imran Khan levelled false allegations of bribery against his client Shehbaz Sharif.

He said Imran Khan through media stated in April last that a common friend offered him Rs 10 billion to remain silent on panama papers case.

The counsel said it was a serious allegation levelled by Imran Khan against Shahbaz Sharif which damaged his repute badly. He said the allegation also caused serious mental agony and stress to his client. The counsel therefore prayed the court to issue decree of Rs 10 billion as compensation in his favour for publication of defamatory contents.
