CJ’s profound remarks

Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar has asked the civil service officers that they must not protest against former Lahore Development Authority (LDA) director general Ahad Cheema’s arrest.

“Whoever wants to resign should go home,” the Chief Justice remarked in relation to the protesting bureaucrats. The Chief Justice has also questioned how a resolution was passed against NAB by the Punjab Assembly, observing that tomorrow a resolution could also be passed against the Supreme Court’s orders.

Sanity must prevail before it is too late. The Punjab Assembly has indeed set an ugly precedent. The protesting civil service officers must realise that their allegiance essentially lies with the state, not with government of the day.
