KARACHI: The Karachi Port handled 140,614 tonnes of cargo comprising 105,246 tonnes of import cargo and 35,368 tonnes of export cargo including 5,969 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Thursday.

The total import cargo of 105,246 tonnes comprised of 43,303 tonnes of containerised cargo; 49,114 tonnes of coal and 12,829 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargo of 35,368 tonnes comprised of 30,321 tonnes of containerised cargo; 255 tonnes of bulk cargo; 284 tonnes of sugar; 239 tonnes of wheat; 2,369 tonnes of rice and 1,900 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

As many as 5,969 containers comprising of 3,322 containers import and 2,647 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 894 of 20’s and 1,131 of 40’s loaded while nil of 20’s and 83 of 40’s empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 877 of 20’s and 220 of 40’s loaded containers while 534 of 20’s and 398 of 40’s empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were three ships namely Navios Verano, MSC Capri and Copenhagen carrying containers and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were three vessels viz. KMTC Mumbai, MSC Capri and Oriental Rose carrying containers and oil tanker respectively currently at the berths.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 116,645 tonnes comprising 51,480 tonnes of import cargo and 65,165 tonnes of export cargo including 4,387 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Thursday.

The total import cargo of 51,480 tonnes includes 4,500 tonnes of LNG; 13,636 tonnes of palm oil; 5,000 tonnes of coal; 1,174 tonnes of general cargo and 27,170 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 65,165 tonnes includes 8,982 tonnes of rice and 56,183 tonnes of containerised cargo.

As many as 4,387 containers comprising of 1,430 containers import and 2,957 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.

There were two ships namely MV Da Zi Yun and MT Express carrying general cargo and LNG respectively sailed out to sea on Thursday morning, while two ships namely CV CSAV Tyndall and MT Chemroad Journey carrying containers and palm oil respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.

A total number of eight vessels viz. CV CMA CGM Narmada, CV CSAV Tyndall, MV Genava, MV Da Zi Yun, MV Sakizaya Wisdom, MV Tiger Pioneer, MT Express and MT Chemroad Journey were currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, soyabean seeds, general cargo, rice, coal, LNG and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours.

As many as thirteen ships namely CV Priority, MV Marine Dream, MV Soho Trader, MV Othani, MV Christina-L, Caravas Liberty, MV Auro, MT Caspian Gas, MT Maria-III, MT Al-Dasma, MT Al-Soor-II, MT Meltemi and MT Red Eagle carrying containers, steel coil, talcum powder, chemical, coal, LPG and diesel oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were three vessels viz. CV Priority, MV Marine Dream and MT Milana Qatar carrying containers, steel coil and LNG respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal and Engro Energy Terminal respectively on Thursday.

There were five ships namely CV Virgo, MV Sea Meray, MV Cavasnos, MV Hong Kong and MV Zi Jing Song carrying containers, rice, coal and general cargo respectively due to arrive on Thursday.

There are five ships namely CV Torrente, CV CMA CGM Georgia, CV GH Chinook, MV Prandowski and MT African Macan carrying containers, project cargo and palm kernal respectively due to arrive on Friday.
