LAHORE: The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) has cancelled March 23 public rally of Bilawal Bhutto in Lahore.

Bilawal was due to address a public rally at Minto Park on Pakistan Day as announced by the party two weeks back. However, party secretary general of Punjab Chapter Manzoor Ahmed announced to cancel the rally.

While giving reasons, he said the district administration has not allowed the party to hold public rally at the park. It may be noted that the district government has converted the park into an amusement park while renaming it as The Greater Iqbal Park and has imposed a ban on holding public rallies there. Imran Khan was the only politician who held a public rally on this ground back in 2011.

The PPP sources said new dates of holding a public rally would be announced later.
