KARACHI: On the 5th annual Convocation of Dawood University of engineering and Technology (DUET), 265 students among 463 graduates of Batch-14, received degrees and certificates while 5 gold and 9 silver medals were awarded to high achievers.

The students who received gold medals included Sophia Sahto, Talha Abbas Ahmed and Majid Iqbal and students who secured second and third positions in their respective departments, received merit certificates.

The 5th Convocation ceremony was held at Dawood University’s Main Campus on Saturday.

The Chief Guest of the occasion was Nisar Ahmed Khuhro, Senior Minister and PPP’s President Sindh. CEO Dawood Hercules Corporation, Inam ur Rahman was Guest of Honour. Prof Dr Faizullah Abbasi, Vice Chancellor, Prof Dr Pir Roshan Din Shah Rashdi, Pro Vice Chancellor, Prof Dr Abdul Waheed Bhutto, Dean Faculty of Engineering, Dr Dost Ali Khowaja, Academic Coordinator, Engr Capt Syed Waqar Hussain Shah ®, Registrar, members of Senate, syndicate and academic council of DUET were also present. The event was attended by many distinguished guests including DUET’s alumni, parents, society notables and Government of Sindh dignitaries.

Addressing the parents, teachers, educationists and students at the graduation ceremony, the VC Prof Dr Faizullah Abbasi lauded the efforts of the team of DUET in bringing desired changes in the University. He said Dawood University has transformed where standard of education has improved; organizing 5th Convocation in a row shows the stability of the University. Dawood University is committed to take lead in developing the society and the nation by producing skillful Engineers and Architects. Dr. Faizullah Abbasi congratulated Students and parents for their achievements and acknowledged Government of Sindh for taking keen interest in University’s development.

The Chief Guest of the Convocation, Senior Minister Nisar Ahmed Khuhro said Government of Sindh is been taking necessary measures to improve the quality and standard of education in the province and the steps initiated are now paying dividends. He appreciated the efforts of VC Dr Faizullah Abbasi and further added that now Dawood University is emerging as one of the finest universities for engineering education, I congratulate Dr. Abbasi and passing out students and their proud parents.
