LAHORE: Punjab Governor Muhammad Rafique Rajwana, Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, Corp. Commander Lahore Lt. Gen. Amir Riaz, Provincial Ministers Ayub Gadhi and Bilal Yasin, DG Rangers Punjab Maj. Gen. Azhar Naveed Hayat, Addl. Chief Secretary (Home), IG Police, CCPO Lahore, Lord Mayor Lahore Mubashar Javed, high police officials, relatives of the martyred police officials and others attended the funeral prayer of five police officials martyred in Raiwind blast at Qilla Gujjar Singh Police Lines, here on Thursday.

After the funeral prayer, Chief Minister and Corp. Commander Lahore laid floral wreaths at the bodies of the martyrs and prayed for their salvation.

The Chief Minister said that martyrs have given an immortal sacrifice for a greater cause and they will always be remembered adding that whole nation is praying for them.

Meanwhile a case against the Raiwind suicide attack that claimed ten lives and injuries to 30 people has been registered at Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) under terrorism and murder sections. The FIR stated that as many as four suspicious people tried to enter a religious congregation when police stopped them for checking. Three suspects fled the scene while one exploded himself, it revealed. Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Operations Wing, Dr Haider Ashraf said that police were target of the attack and two sub-inspectors and three constables embraced martyrdom among nine persons. The attack has come when Lahore is days away from hosting two play-off matches of Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2018, indigenous cricket league, that is presently underway in Dubai and Sharjah. Punjab government has made some alteration in the security plan for second play-off of the flagship Pakistan Super League (PSL) tournament after Raiwind blast.
