KARACHI: The Karachi Port handled 186,310 tonnes of cargo comprising 130,219 tonnes of import cargo and 56,091 tonnes of export cargo including 8,179 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Wednesday.

The total import cargo of 130,219 tonnes comprised of 62,927 tonnes of containerised cargo; 31,754 tonnes of bulk cargo; 31,500 tonnes of coal and 4,038 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargo of 56,091 tonnes comprised of 31,686 tonnes of containerised cargo; 455 tonnes of bulk cargo; 15,876 tonnes of wheat; 1,074 tonnes of sugar and 7,000 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

As many as 8,179 containers comprising of 4,649 containers import and 3,530 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 1,855 of 20’s and 1,378 of 40’s loaded while 10 of 20’s and 14 of 40’s empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 945 of 20’s and 388 of 40’s loaded containers while 383 of 20’s and 713 of 40’s empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were seven ships namely Peosper, Houston Express, Wan Hai-503, Al Safa, Sezai Selah, Panvision and Da Kang carrying containers, oil tanker, wheat, sugar and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were eight vessels viz. YM Eminence, Long Beach Trader, UAFL Zanzibar, High Challenge, YM Miranda, First-1, Blue Sea and Industrial Dolphin carrying containers, oil tanker, chemical, coal and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 130,378 tonnes comprising 106,237 tonnes of import cargo and 24,141 tonnes of export cargo including 3,907 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.

The total import cargo of 106,237 tonnes includes 31,200 tonnes of LNG; 1,600 tonnes of LPG; 12,464 tonnes of palm oil; 8,455 tonnes of coal; 2,377 tonnes of general cargo and 50,141 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 24,141 tonnes includes 24,141 tonnes of containerised cargo.

As many as 3,907 containers comprising of 2,639 containers import and 1,268 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.

There were three ships namely CV Busan Trader, MV Sea Fortune and MT Al-Gharrfara carrying containers, general cargo and LNG respectively sailed out to sea on Wednesday morning, while three more ships namely CV Northern Monument, MV Pacific Talent and MT Corona carrying containers, bulk cargo and palm oil respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.

A total number of eleven vessels viz. CV Northern Monument, CV MSC Al-Ghero, CV Busan Trader, CV Mehun, MV Sea Fortune, MV Pacific Talent, MV Azizi, MV Ruby Star, MT Al-Gharrfara, MT Thomson Gas and MT Corona were currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, general cargo, canola seeds, coal, chemical, LNG and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours.

As many as thirteen ships namely MV Sakizaya Champion, MV Crimson Empress, MV Zhen Bang, MV Da Kang, MV Da Dan Xia, MV Endeavour Strait, MV Ocean Prelate, MV Barbouny, MT Maria-III, MT Jo Pinari, MT Glorious, MT UACC Ibn Al-Hajiham and MT Navig-8 Sky carrying soyabean, canola seeds, general cargo, coal, sand, LPG, diesel oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were five vessels viz. MV Da Kang, MV Da Dan Xia, MV Endeavour Strait, MT Tiamat Gas and MT Navig-8 Sky carrying general cargo, coal, LPG and palm oil respectively expected to take berths at Multi Purpose Terminal, Iron Ore & Coal Berth, SSGC LPG Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Wednesday.

There were three ships namely CV Qingda Tower and CV Hugo Schulte and MV Ocean Prelate carrying containers and coal respectively due to arrive on Wednesday while two more ships namely CV MSC Susanne and CV GSL Tianjin carrying containers are due to arrive on Thursday.
