LAHORE: Punjab Minister for Primary & Secondary Health (P&SH) Khawaja Imran Nazir has said that government is committed to provide quality healthcare services in the less developed and remote areas and a comprehensive program of prevention of diseases is also being implemented.

He stated this while inaugurating the upgraded and revamped emergency department of Tehsil Headquarter Hospital (THQ) Kot Momin, on Tuesday. Besides Deputy Commissioner Sargodha Liaquat Chatta, Additional Secretary Technical P&SH Department Dr Asim Altaf, CEO Health Dr Nusrat Riaz, Medical Superintendent and other officers of the department were present on this occasion.

Khawaja Nazir also visited the wards and other areas of the hospital. He inquired after the health of the patients and asked them about the health facilities specially provision of free medicine from the patients.

Moreover, the minister also inaugurated HIV/AIDS Control Center in the hospital. P&SH department, after reporting of a number of cases of HIV/AIDS from the area, has established an AIDS Control Center for the diagnosis, registration and treatment of the patients. Khawaja Nazir said that the information/data of HIV/AIDS patients would be kept in secret and the Punjab AIDS Control Program would provide free treatment facilities to such patients.
