KARACHI: The Karachi Port handled 138,458 tonnes of cargo comprising 90,849 tonnes of import cargo and 47,609 tonnes of export cargo including 1,838 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Wednesday.

The total import cargo of 90,849 tonnes comprised of 03,757 tonnes of containerised cargo; 17,200 tonnes of coal and 69,892 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargo of 47,609 tonnes comprised of 16,943 tonnes of containerised cargo; 655 tonnes of bulk cargo; 17,716 tonnes of wheat and 4,055 tonnes of wheat (Gandum) and 8,240 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

As many as 1,838 containers comprising of 213 containers import and 1,625 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 109 of 20’s and 52 of 40’s loaded while nil of 20’s and nil of 40’s empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 316 of 20’s and 460 of 40’s loaded containers while 01 of 20’s and 194 of 40’s empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were five ships namely MS Tiger, Kota Lambang, Nord Mantee, Silver Joan and FPMC P Glory carrying containers, coal and mogas respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were five vessels viz. AG Mars, MT Shalamar, Maritime Gisela, Bahia Blanca and Ant Je carrying oil tankers, coal and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 162,736 tonnes comprising 124,148 tonnes of import cargo and 38,588 tonnes of export cargo including 3,903 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.

The total import cargo of 124,148 tonnes includes 2,900 tonnes of palm oil; 71,415 tonnes of coal; 3,661 tonnes of soyabean seeds; 963 tonnes of bitumen; 5,100 tonnes of chemical and 40,109 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 38,588 tonnes includes 4,540 tonnes of rice and 34,148 tonnes of containerised cargo.

As many as 3,903 containers comprising of 2,111 containers import and 1,792 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.

There were two ships namely MV Asma and MT Horizon carrying bitumen and palm oil respectively sailed out to sea on Wednesday morning, while three more ships namely CV Maersk Chicago, MV Ocean Prelate and MV TRF Bergen carrying containers, coal and chemical respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.

A total number of eleven vessels viz. CV Maersk Chicago, CV MSC Haidi, CV GSL Tianjin, MV Daytona Beach, MV Asma, MV Ocean Prelate, MV Lowland Amstel, MV St Cergue, MV Sakizaya Champion, MV TRF Bergen and MT Horizon were currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, rice, bitumen, soyabean seeds, coal, chemical and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours.

As many as sixteen ships namely MV Crimson Empress, MV Zhen Bang, MV Wooyang Hermes, MV Dream Ocean, MV Free State, MV Vindo Nissa, MV Star Anlares, MV African Puff In, MV SC Tianjin, MV TRF Bergen, MV African Horn Bill, MT Al-Thumama, MT Maria-III, MT Maersk Magellan, MT Glorious and MT UACC Ibn Al-Hajiham carrying soyabean, canola seeds, steel product, coal, chemical, cement, LNG, LPG and diesel oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were six vessels viz. MV African Horn Bill, MV Free State, MV Star Anlares, MV SC Tianjin, MT Al-Thumama and MT Yu Fu carrying cement, coal, chemical, LNG and palm oil respectively expected to take berths at Multi Purpose Terminal, Iron Ore & Coal Berth, Engro Vopak Terminal, Engro Energy Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Wednesday.
