KARACHI: The Karachi Port handled 105,399 tonnes of cargo comprising 69,678 tonnes of import cargo and 35,721 tonnes of export cargo including 2,045 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Friday.

The total import cargo of 69,678 tonnes comprised of 14,784 tonnes of containerised cargo; 6,511 tonnes of bulk cargo; 23,418 tonnes of coal; 9,456 tonnes of fertilizer and 9,000 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargo of 35,721 tonnes comprised of 9,643 tonnes of containerised cargo; 150 tonnes of bulk cargo; 7,728 tonnes of wheat; and 18,200 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

As many as 2,045 containers comprising of 1,011 containers import and 1,034 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 343 of 20’s and 315 of 40’s loaded while nil of 20’s and 19 of 40’s empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 249 of 20’s and 80 of 40’s loaded containers while 03 of 20’s and 311 of 40’s empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were three ships namely Seaspan Humburg, Magnate and East Ayutthaya carrying containers and wheat respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were four vessels viz. Seaspan Humburg, MOL Globe, Hafnia Europe and New Breeze carrying containers and oil tankers respectively currently at the berths.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 115,881 tonnes comprising 99,735 tonnes of import cargo and 16,146 tonnes of export cargo including 1,163 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Friday.

The total import cargo of 99,735 tonnes includes 14,102 tonnes of diesel oil; 21,175 tonnes of palm oil; 19,310 tonnes of coal; 2,685 tonnes of canola seeds; 28,400 tonnes of LNG; 2,112 tonnes of project cargo and 11,951 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 16,146 tonnes includes 6,000 tonnes of clinker and 10,146 tonnes of containerised cargo.

As many as 1,163 containers comprising of 629 containers import and 534 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.

There were two ships namely MV Zhen Bang and MT Constantinos carrying canola seeds and diesel oil respectively sailed out to sea on Friday morning, while three ships namely CV APL Chongqing, MV Alam Mulia and MT Argent Aster carrying containers, coal and palm oil respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.

A total number of nine vessels viz. CV APL Chongqing, MV African Puffin, MV Reem-3, MV Alam Mulia, MV Zhen Bang, MT British Emerald, MT Constantinos, MT Argent Aster and MT Sky Ploeg were currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, clinker, bitumen, canola seeds, coal, LNG, diesel oil and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours.

As many as fourteen ships namely MV GP Asphalt-III, MV MG Hammant, MV White Hawk, MV Thassos, MV Avacon, MV Young Spirit, MV Parnasos, MT Maria-III, MT Iblea, MT Lion-M, MT Al Qadisia, MT Al-Salam-II, MT Corona and MT Chemroad Queen carrying bitumen, soyabean, coal, LPG, furnace oil, diesel oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were eight vessels viz. CV Libra, CV Hugo Schulte, MV GP Asphalt-III, MV White Hawk, MV Young Spirit, MV Parnasos, MT Lion-M and MT Corona carrying containers, bitumen, soyabean seeds, coal, furnace oil and palm oil expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal, Grain & Fertilizer Terminal, Iron Ore & Coal Berth, FOTCO Oil Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Friday.

There were four ships namely CV MOL Courage, CV Hugo Schulte, MV Hanian Trader and MV North Dancer carrying containers and coal respectively due to arrive on Friday.

There are three ships namely CV APL Minnosota, CV MS Tiger and CV Northern Power carrying containers respectively due to arrive on Saturday.
