RECORDER REPORT

LAHORE: Punjab Schools Education Minister Rana Mashhood Khan has said that the law has been passed which has made the Punjab government responsible to make ‘Nazra’ education a part of the curriculum from class 1 to 12.

He expressed these views while charring a meeting regarding implementation of ‘nazra’ education across the province here on Monday. The Minister said that ‘nazra’ education will be made compulsory from class 1 to class 5 while the students of class 6 to 12 translation of the Holy Quran will be taught.

“In collaboration with the Auqaf, higher education and schools education departments, the Punjab Curriculum and Textbook Board (PCTB) will make arrangements for the launching of this scheme on May 30,” he added.

In this connection, the Minister constituted a committee headed by the PCTB MD and this committee will formulate rules for the implementation of ‘nazra’ studies in schools. The committee shall include the members of the Aqaf department, schools education department and PCTB.

The Minister asked the committee to also review the implementation process of ‘nazra’ studies in Bahawalpur. He directed the Auqaf department to constitute a special committee for the selection of translation of the Holy Quran to be taught in schools.
