Railways to ply five special trains on Eid

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Railways has announced Eid package with 30 percent cut in rail fare, besides running five special trains to facilitate passengers on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr.

A spokesperson forPakistan Railways told Business Recorder that 30 percent discount for passengers on Eid-ul-Fitr has been announced. All classes of train on the second and third day of Eid will get thirty percent discount also. The decision was made in the meeting headed by Chief executive Office (CEO) Pakistan Railways Aftab Akbar. The discount is also available on advance booking.

Last year the government had announced 33 percent cut in rail fare, while the fare cut was available on Eid and the next day, but this time the facility would be available for the second and third day of Eid. An official said that due to raise in petroleum products, fare cut has been reduced.

A sizeable sum of Rs13.375 billion has been allocated for operational fuel during current year 2017-18. This expenditure is beyond its control as already many upward revisions in the prices of fuel have taken place in the current financial year. Further to meet heavy rush, railways would attach additional coaches.

Meanwhile, Pakistan Railways will run five special trains from different cities on occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr across country in a bid to extend maximum facilities to passengers so that they can spend the Islamic festival with their near and dear ones.

Route of these special trains have been issued by Pakistan Railways. Special Eid trains will ply from Karachi, Quetta, Rawalpindi and Multan while additional bogies will be attached with trains to accommodate maximum passengers.

According to the details, first and second special trains will start journey on 12th of this month from Karachi to Peshawar Cantt and from Quetta to Rawalpindi station respectively.

Third Special train will start his journey on 13th of June from Karachi Cantt to Lahore while fourth Special train will start his journey on 14th of June from Rawalpindi to Multan Cantt. The fifth special train will start his journey on 19th of June from Multan Cantt to Rawalpindi.

Fare for economy class of first special train from Karachi to Malkwal will be Rs1480 while it will be Rs1860 from Krachi to Peshawar. The fare of second special class for economy class will be Rs1540 from Quetta to Rawalpindi, AC Standard Rs3550 and Business class Rs4420. The fare for third special train for economy class from Karachi to Lahore will be Rs1430. The fare for fourth special train for economy class from Rawalpindi to Multan will be Rs980 while for fifth special economy class fare will be Rs980 from Multan to Rawalpindi.
