LAHORE: Senior police officers paid rich tributes to the services rendered by former Punjab Inspector General of Police (IGP) Arif Nawaz Khan in a farewell ceremony held here at the Central Police Office (CPO) on Thursday.

The ceremony was attended by Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Amin Wains, Additional IG (AIG) Special Branch Faisal Shahkar, AIG D&I Ijaz Hussain Shah, AIG Training Tariq Masood Yaseen, AIG Establishment Azhar Hameed Khokhar, AIG Elite Shahid Hanif, AIG CTD Rai Tahir, AIG Logistics and Procurement BA Nasir while all regional police officers and district police officers joined the ceremony via video-link.

The officers said that Arif was one of the most honest and dutiful officers of the Punjab police who completed several welfare projects under his leadership. They further said Arif had established the system of modern policing in a true professional way and that is why, they claimed, they have observed a decline in crimes and improvement in law and order situation across the province.

It may be noted that ex-IG Arif Nawaz ensured the implementation of modern policing with the use of information technology and launched several IT projects which were later adopted by security agencies of other provinces as well.

The senior cops claimed that Nawaz always followed the merit system and ensured the completion of different projects on priority basis for relief to masses. Speaking on the occasion, the ex-IG said he completed all the projects successfully due to teamwork and that he tried to accomplish all the tasks after consulting other officers. At the end of the meeting, a diligent squad paid farewell ‘salami’ to Arif Nawaz at the CPO.
