NAVEED BUTT

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Dr Nafisa Shah Friday strongly criticized Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government for announcing conversion of the Prime Minister House into a university.

“The Prime Minister House is not the personal property of Imran Khan. He should convert his own Bani Gala Mahal (mansion) into a university,” the PPP leader tweeted.

She said that the Prime Minister House is a state asset and belongs to the people of Pakistan and would be the residence of all future prime ministers as well. “300 kanals property of Bani Gala is a very good location. Let’s start with Bani Gala Institute of Agro-forestry there,” she said in the tweet.

In another tweet, the PPP leader said, “I am all for universities & colleges but Islamabad a city of 1.2 million people has 20 universities & 100 colleges & each of them needs more resources to improve their quality. #PM House is an institution, not simply a residence. It’s sad that #PTI is resorting to such cheap stunts.”

Addressing a news conference on Thursday, Federal Education Minister Shafqat Mahmood said that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government plans to convert the Prime Minister House into a university. Mahmood said that additional structures will be built behind the Prime Minister House for this purpose.
