PESHAWAR: An attempt of smuggling of 814.05 grams gold jewellery from Pakistan to Afghanistan was foiled by the administration here at Torkham border on Friday.

The Torkham Tehsildar Shakeel Barki said that the Khasadar personnel during routine duty stopped an Afghanistan bound pedestrian for checking.

During examination different kind of ornaments made of 814.05 grams told were recovered concealed in under his body.

The gold was took into legal custody and the allegedly gold smuggler identified as Shams-ul-Haq an Afghan citizen was apprehended and sent to Landi Kotal lockup for further investigation, the official said.

In separate event a smuggling of ice from Afghanistan to Pakistan was failed at Torkham border when Khasadar recovered two kilo ice from an Afghan woman luggage, hided in melon. The accused woman and the pushcart owner arrested for investigation, administration official said.
